We are very pleased to inform everybody that we received the first delivery of the Pfizer vaccine on Friday 15th January!
We have been eagerly awaiting this and we will be having two further deliveries next week.
This is fantastic news for our patients as it means that everybody over 70 and patients who are clinically extremely vulnerable to COVID, will shortly be offered the first dose of the vaccine. (We will be contacting all eligible patients).
Due to the properties of the COVID-19 vaccine it has to be administered in a very short time span so therefore we will be devoting most of clinical and administrative resources to delivering the vaccine over the coming days.
Giving the vaccine is obviously our priority and it will have an impact on our normal patient services in the following ways:
- Our telephone advice line, booked telephone appointments and on-line appointments will be available but there will be reduced number of clinicians available as they will be involved in administering vaccines.
- Unfortunately, it may mean postponing routine work like smear tests.
- Some services like ear syringing will not be available.
- We will continue essential services such as childhood immunisations.
Please help us try and maintain social distancing in the practice.
We will have a large number of patients attending for their vaccine (including patients from The Old Dairy and Brockwell Park Surgery) so please, do not come to the practice for any other reason.
We will continue to try and facilitate this by sending prescriptions and forms electronically where possible.
Thank you to everybody for working with us through this difficult and yet hopeful time.
